Receiving Gifts

Who Records Gift Revenue?

  • Alumni Affairs and Development (Information Services), Office of Trust and Estates, and certain units (e.g., Laboratory of Ornithology)
  • Gifts-in-kind are evaluated on an individual basis and must be coordinated with Information Services
  • Moving gifts in the general ledger normally is done by Information Services. This is important for fundraising purposes to make sure the individual gift record is properly reflected in the university contributor relations system
  • Gift revenue is recorded in the general ledger on object codes beginning with 18xx  (Prior year gift allocations are made on object code 1160.)
