Business Process Improvement

A small step has been taken to make it easier to trace the origin of a transaction on the monthly transaction statements. We have added a column to the monthly transaction statement to "explain" the reference number, in those cases where we can clearly associate the reference number with a specific business process. For now, this column will only be meaningful for transactions with "standard" reference numbers. In the future, we will add a "business process" attribute to JEMS journals, allowing a journal's creator to choose from a set of pre-defined business processes, or to specify "none" if none of the pre-defined values applies.

Associating a journal with a business process opens up the possibility of other enhancements to JEMS, such as limiting the ability to create journals for a given business process to specific individuals or roles, and enforcing process-specific business rules."
